South African Maritime Career Expo
The Careers Expo attracted close to 7000 people this year and helped promote maritime skills locally; promoted jobs and career opportunities in the maritime sector as well as created avenues to access job opportunities in the maritime sector. This event created a platform for the youth, especially young learners in high schools, tertiary students and unemployed graduates, where they could interact with education and training providers, tourism and economic development organizations, public and private employers and the government in the maritime sector.
Potters Hand Activations along with MTM created innovative concepts such as an inflate Exhibition booths, Interactive demonstrations from Intel at the Expo, experiential outings to the SA Agulhus for learners and the finest South African talent on display at an encouraging and motivating Opening Ceremony and an impressionable Gala Dinner.
The Job Summit had key note addresses delivered by honourable MP: Transport Portfolio Committee Chairperson, Ruth Bhengu, Minister of Labour, Mildred Oliphant, Ministers of Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Hlengiwe Mkhize and the MEC for Economic Development and Tourism, Michael Mabuyakhulu.
